EXHIBITIONS

Still | April 22-26, 2024

Bardwell Project Space

- Solo show held in one of the two campus galleries exhibiting a body of 12 artworks generated in the final semester of undergraduate studies at Biola.

- Artist creates the artworks, show statement, and promotional materials and does the installation/deinstallation process.

LA Sees Itself | October 23 – December 1, 2023

Bardwell Project Space & Earl and Virginia Green Gallery, Biola University

- Culmination of a yearlong research and curatorial project with Visionary in Residence, Carl Berg.

- Exhibition includes original works and prints from 30 artists representing a range of careers and contributions to the history of LA art (e.g. Ed Ruscha, Chris Burden, Claire Collette, Russell Crotty, Marcus Zuniga, Salomon Huerta).

- Helped curate the salon style exhibition in Earl and Virginia Green Gallery.

- Helped install accompanying representation of research in Bardwell Project Space.

Zones: LA Sees Itself | December 2022

Bardwell Project Space, Biola University

- Culmination of the fall portion of a yearlong research and curatorial project with Visionary in Residence, Carl Berg.

- Exhibition representing research done in the class on 8 ecosystems of LA based on the interests of the artists who put LA on the map.

- Collaborative project with 5 undergraduate art students.

- Researched and represented the ecosystem of astronomy and contributed to the installation of the show.

 

Peace, Be Still | October 25 – November 22, 2022

Earl and Virginia Green Gallery, Biola University | Presented by the Malcom Initiative for Evangelism and Missions in collaboration with The Center for Christianity and the Arts and Upside Down Gallery (Jews for Jesus Los Angeles)

- Juried exhibition features the work of 21 artists of faith ranging from undergraduate students to established artists.

- Included artworks surround the themes of peace found within an anxious age.

- Contributed two artworks: Through Prayer and Baptized Pain (see ellabuell.com).

 

PUBLICATIONS

LA Sees Itself – Show Catalogue | August 2023

- Wrote an essay about LA’s relationship to the ecosystem of astronomy to communicate the perspectives specific to LA on the topic, providing a context for the astronomy-related artworks in the catalog.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

Woodshop Technician Assistant

Biola University, La Mirada, CA | January 2022 – May 2024

- Trained 6 students in the safety and use of the woodshop tools, equipping them to use the tools for the creation of projects.

- Supervised students to ensure their safety, the care of the tools, and the organization of the woodshop.

 

Admissions Intern

Torrey Honors College at Biola University, La Mirada, CA | September 2023 – May 2024

- Maintained contact with numerous perspective students to answer questions about what Torrey Honors College offers and build relationships with them during their decision-making process.

- Met with numerous prospective students in person to welcome them to campus and introduce them to the Torrey program.

  

Intern

Art for the Isolated, La Mirada, CA | January 2023 – May 2023

- Assembled and distributed 26 postcard presentations of visual art and poetry.

- Assisted in the making of 1 large cyanotype print.

- Assembled 15 frames to be used for the display of photographic works in an anticipated exhibition.

- Researched hospitals and gallery spaces to find a host an anticipated exhibition of photographic works.

 

Project Manager

The Grove Center for the Arts and Media, Newport Beach, CA. | May 2021 - August 2021

- Spearheaded ideation phase of expansion for the organization, so that strategic decisions might be made more easily.

- Oversaw social media promotion by creating a series of Instagram posts over the course of 6 weeks to improve the organization’s social media engagement.

 

Social Media Coordinator

- Scheduled 25 orientation-related social media posts throughout the summer to increase productivity and provide a model for future Social Media Coordinators

- Designed 20 Instagram and Facebook posts to excite, encourage, and inform incoming students.

- Interacted with incoming students through a private Facebook group to answer their questions.

 

Studio Assistant

Daniel Callis Studio, Orange, CA | May 2021 - June 2021

- Carved 6 linoleum blocks to be used for a series of prints.

- Painted clean edges and touched up color on a series of 4 large oil paintings to create a more finished look.

 

Event Support Assistant

Fieldstead and Company, Irvine, CA | September 2021 – December 2022

- Prepared over 1000 gifts given to friends of the company to maintain and promote generous client interaction.

- Supervised the set-up of 2 events to ensure the space was prepared both practically and aesthetically.

- Spoke to and welcomed high profile clients to create a helpful and hospitable professional environment.

- Updated financial and descriptive information concerning over 1,500 artworks in Artlogic to keep the information updated.
