Ella Buell grew up in Texas, earned a BFA in Painting in Southern California, and is living and working in British Columbia while she pursues a graduate degree in theological studies. For her, each place she inhabits holds both a curious spirit and an awareness of impermanence.
Developing a conversation between mediums and processes that uniquely inhabit indoor and outdoor spaces, Buell asks questions about place-making and grounds for dwelling. Her work is particularly interested in the habits that build familiarity, reverence, and belonging. It bears witness to the wandering work of one seeking orientation and a still place.
